Candy Striping

Mission accomplished. And the mission was thrifting. The new mission assignment (should I choose to accept it) is... thrifting again. It's sort of a perpetual mission. But, I always feel accomplished with goodies like these. A beautiful vintage sheet, bias tape and rick rack, embroidery floss for seven cents (!) and darling shorts for my girl that look like she's a candy-striper-in-training.
After taking inventory in my craft closet, I realized that my bias tape stash has reached 27 packages. I think I'm cutting myself off until a few are put to good use.

And now because of those shorts, I'm craving a piece of peppermint candy...

I love reading your blog. Not that you aren't a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, but I personally feel you've missed PART of your calling~~writing stories. Do you make up stories to tell the baby? I'm sure she'd love it ~ except she probably needs pictures to go with it! Oh yes, love your new "finds"

I'm glad that I am not the only one with craft issues. Mine have to do with rickrack. Why do I need 20 packages of all different colors. Great collection of thrifted items. I searched and searched this morning for embroidery thread but only found one sale that had any and they all smelled like moth balls. I was so disappointed. Maybe I'll find them tomorrow.

Diane, when Janae was here last week, we went thrift store shopping all because of YOU! I was telling her that 50% of your posts are about thrifting booty, and I was intrigued- you know, thrifting goes right along with what I used to preach to my students: reduce, re-use, recycle!

Anyway, we found LOTS of stuff (I spent $60!!!) and were so happy to be leaving with BAGS full of booty: clothes for the kids, games for family game-night, even a new back-pack for Ivy's first day of school. It was SUPER fun! I'm gonna make thrifting my new alone-time hobby! Thanks for the inspiration!

And, I am STILL giggling about the swimsuit photo- I can't believe you thought that was Janae, but I totally understand, the photo usually goes right along with the text accompanying it! Janae has made me a little more AWARE about how and what I post from now on!!!

And, say hello back to Chris for me! And tell him thanks for his "No" vote; Janae appreciated it!!!
