Fly Little Birdie, Fly

This little birdie is my favorite felt ponytail holder. I make a whole slew of 'em, but this one is IT. Sometimes a new idea keeps me awake at night... it's as though I can't keep still unless I get up and make something. No doubt, fellow crafters can relate. The thing of beauty about a bird has been called many things. Emily Dickinson wrote "Hope Is The Thing With Feathers". The Bible uses a bird to symbolize peace. Some seek feathers for adorning hats. It's all of those things: hope, peace and even decoration. But what it really comes down to is the ability to fly. There is freedom in flying. And strength. And grace. So to all our little bird friends today, tell me what you see when you fly.

This is certainly a lovely pony tail holder but I have seen many others you have made that are equally pretty. I'm wondering why this one seems to be your favorite. Is it the symbolism?

This is the cutest thing and makes me wish I had longer hair. I found your blog though Vintage Thingies Thursday today and really enjoyed seeing your embroidery and cross stitch. I know I'll be back.
